Thanks for taking part in this, the first competitive event on the Moor since 1992 !
The weather could have been better but the courses went down well and we welcomed some new and recently new faces which is very encouraging.
It is nice to have a new map to work with and we will be tweaking this in time for our next event here.
Thanks to Mike , Anthony, Pat, Ivor, Carla and Richard for help and support.
Jonathan Emberton, planner.
Thanks to all those who came to our event on a rather poor day for weather.
On arrival at the moor, it was the first day of winter - there was a cold breeze and a constant steady drizzle.
However this did not stop you all dashing off in three different directions to try to get as many controls as possible in 40 or 60mins.
The score event format was a good way to use the area, it was possible to avoid the tougher bits and stay on the paths.
Our thanks to John and Linda at the Moorcock Inn who let us use their car park, and produced some very welcome food and warmth at the end of the event.
Thanks also to Calderdale who allowed us to use the area.

Mapper's notes Mike Pownall
About 12 months ago, I took over as EPOC mapping officer and on rooting through all the paperwork I inherited, I found a set of aerial photos of Norland Moor. We got a p.g. plot done and set about surveying. This was done in the spring when the area is at its most runnable.
I'm not completely happy with the map but we can tweak it quite easily as its on OCAD and I live about a mile away as the crow flies. I would like to make the more complex areas a bit clearer.
After a gap of some 12 years we wanted to mark the return of Orienteering to Norland Moor with something a bit different - a Score event seemed to fit the bill as there aren't many these days.
