Preliminary Details

Royds Hall Woods District Event

Sunday 5th Feb 2006

Car Park: At SE edge of wood. GR 147 267 in the Bower Green Warehouse carpark. Between Brighouse and Bradford, signed from the A641. You can also approach from the A58 through Norwood Green. You will be given an entry sheet as you park.

Terrain:  A mature, delightful woodland following a river valley. Junior courses will be mainly in Old Hanna Wood and Low Wood, whilst the seniors will also visit the trickier parts of Jagger Park Wood.

Map: . 1:10000, 5m contours, updated. Premarked maps in polybag. Re-cycling if we run out. Competitors should be aware that there are a significant number of seasonal paths on the ground which are not on the map, especially in the lower wood!

Control descriptions: Will be on the map and on display at registration. Pictorial except for white and yellow.

Electronic Punching: Will be used at this event.

Toilets: There will be two toilets only, in the Bower Green Offices, clean shoes please! So please go before you arrive if poss.

Newcomers: Those new to Orienteering will be very welcome at this event. Just bring along a compass if you have one, and ask at enquiries.

Registration and Dibber hire: 10am to 12 noon. Fill in the entry form you receive in the carpark, and take the form, + your Dibber, if you have one, to registration.

Fees:   Adult £4.00. Student £2.50. (student card req'd). Juniors £1.50. Extra maps 50pence. Dibber hire £1.

Sorry no string course. White is a nice walk for accompanied young children.

Download entry slips to fill in before the event! NB. Bring them to the event, do not email them anywhere!
         
Starts: 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Finish: There will be a finish banner, please remember to 'punch' here. There will be someone nearby to report any problems. Please then go to to the caravan to download your dibber.

Dogs: No problem if on a lead at all times.

Courses Close: 2.30pm

Safety. Safety is the responsibility of the competitor. We are using the 'Buddy' system. Make sure you have a reliable buddy who will raise the alarm if you seem very late finishing. Lone competitors who cannot find a buddy should leave their car keys at the information and enquiries.

Cancellation: If the weather is dodgy for any reason check on EPOCs website, or ring the Organiser.
