Honley Wood District Event
Sunday 11th June 2006
Planners Comments
I've never run on Honley before, so I approached the planning
with a fresh
viewpoint. The excellent new assembly area venue meant that I could provide
different challenges for competitors on the more technical courses as well
as good White and Yellow courses. Some of you may be amazed when I say
that I kept people out of the most scrappy and overgrown areas! In some
ways I'm glad it was hot and dry because when it's wet, it gets really
slippery
and muddy in Honley - but then the courses wouldn't have seemed nearly
so
hilly had it been 18 degrees instead of 28.
Thanks to everyone who helped me out before and on the day, including:
Rod
for the map update; Ian for giving me a crash course in how to use OCAD;
Pete for being a very level-headed controller; Mike for organising the
SI
kit; Gemma for helping to hang controls; Paul, Hugh and Kate for helping
collect controls; and finally to Amanda for instilling me with a sense
of
confidence and calm before the event.
Next time I take on the role of planner I'll make sure that I won't be
on
holiday the two weeks prior to the event.
