Far Isle Farm Informal Orienteering Event
Wednesday 14 th June 2006
Registration: from 6.15pm till 7.15pm.
Starts: from 6.30pm till 7.30pm.
Courses close at 8.30pm.
Car Park: At Far Isle Farm at SE 039 339 between Denholme and Oxenhope on the B6141 just north of Halifax. Turn off the B6141 at SE 037 344 at the western end of Leeming Reservoir then follow the orienteering signs to the farm. Overflow parking will be on the opposite side of the B6141 just opposite the end of the reservoir and is about 0.5km walk from the farm. Yorkshire Water are currently working on the reservoir dam but the way through to the farm will be clear.
The farmer has declined any land use or parking fees but will have a few collecting boxes for the local Sue Ryder home (Manorlands). Please donate to this very worthy cause.
Terrain: Runnable moorland with a small area of pleasant woodland. This is a brand new area to orienteering.
Map: 1:5,000, 5m contours, mapped during summer 2005.
E-punching: Will be used at this event. E-cards are available if you don't have your own. There is no charge but you will have to reimburse us to the tune of £18 if you lose it. If you haven't used e-punching before, don't worry, its easy and will be explained to you before you start.
Results: Your result will be available at the finish and full results will appear on the EPOC web site www.eastpennineoc.org.uk
Refreshments: The farmer and his wife have kindly agreed to provide refreshments - tea, juice and sandwiches from about 7.30 onwards. Please do take advantage of these refreshments.
Toilets: None - sorry.
Dogs: No dogs please, as this is a working farm.
Fees: Adults £2, Juniors/Students £1
Courses: White 1.2km and Yellow 2.1 km suitable for beginners
Medium (3.1k) and Long (4.6k) technical courses
