Oakwell Hall Park Race

Informal Event and Final Race in YHOA Park Race Series

Car Park. Public car park at SE 212268 off the A652 Dewsbury to Bradford road NW of Birstall. There are public toilets in this and other car parks in the area.

Assembly. The assembly field is an easy 5 minute walk along a track. The Start, Finish and much of the last five legs of the race are visible from assembly. Please bring your own refreshments or make use of the Country Park outlets.

Terrain. Runnable, undulating grassland and deciduous woodland in the Country Park surrounding the ancient Hall. There are fences which must not be climbed . Parts of the area are used for horse riding and it is a condition of us using Oakwell that runners must give way to horses .

Map from 2004. 1:5000, 5m contours. Not all items of Country Park furniture (benches, small fences etc) are marked. Premarked maps. Please bring a map bag. Control descriptions will be provided separately.

Electronic Punching. SI Controls.

Registration. 10.30 am to 12 noon.

Courses. A single park race course of 3.0 km, 140 m climb. Also a free String Course for very young children. Beginners may want to make use of the permanent course; maps can be bought at the Country Park outlets.

Starts. 10.30am to 12 noon. Adjacent to Assembly.

Finish.   Adjacent to Assembly. Please bring your own drinks.

Entry Fees. Seniors £3. Juniors £1.00. Students with cards £2.00.

Dogs. No problem if on a lead at all times.

Safety. Safety is the responsibility of the competitor. We are using the 'Buddy' system. Make sure you have a reliable buddy who will raise the alarm if you seem very late finishing. Lone competitors who cannot find a buddy should leave their car keys at registration. Courses close at 1.00 pm .
