East Pennine Orienteering Club

The Orienteering Club for Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield

                    Organisers Comments

Well, we couldn't have wished for a better day! Earlier in the week, the wind and rain were most depressing. (This exactly how I started my last Ogden event comments!)

The day again illustrated how imperative it is that we park away from Ogden. It was such a beautiful day that Ogden Water was full to capacity with people, even before orienteers turned up!

Steve the farmer was again very helpful, moving around the animals and even sweeping the barn. The bucket collection raised £236 for Caistor Lifeboat, and £5 which will go into the Sunday afternoon Chapel collection.

We have a compass in lost property, together with a girls top (attitude). email me with your address.

I would like to thank Calderdale, the Ogden Water Staff, Dave and Robin, for again being really positive and helpful for our event. Also for allowing some parking across the dam.

Mount Zion kindly lent us their tables again.

The Green Machine were very grateful for your support! Contact them if you want them to come to your event......

Also thanks to Yorkshire Water, The Scholefield Family, The Wilkinsons and The Midgleys for allowing us once again to trespass on their area.

And finally thanks to the EPOC helpers who made the day run pretty smoothly!

PS. To those who did not make it to the event, you can see your courses on Route Gadget, so I do not plan to send maps, unless specifically asked!

PPS.

Some of you may have gathered that Pete Lomas of MDOC had to retire to hospital with a broken finger and a bruised face.

Our thanks to those who tried to assist, and particularly Steve Berisford and Irene Crawshaw who both forfeited their run. Irene went with him to Hospital.

He is now battered and bruised and splinted, and will sleep well tonight.
