YHOA Schools Champs and District Event
Sunday 1st July 2007
Car Park. SE 328157 Signed from the A61
Wakefield to Barnsley road south of Wakefield. Minibuses and vehicles
with young children will be waved on to another car park immediately
adjacent to Registration. Other competitors will have a five minute
walk to Registration which is on the way to the Start.
Start and Finish. Close to each other, but 10
mins. from Registration. The Start and Finish are well away from the
usual location near the Dam, giving a different experience of the woods.
Terrain. Beautiful, runnable mixed woodland around
Newmillerdam with contour detail, point features and an extensive path
network. Pleasurable orienteering for all abilities.
Map. 1:10000, 5m contours. Newly surveyed for the
event by Rod Ryall.
Electronic Punching. SI dibber Controls.
Registration. 10.00am to 12noon.
Courses. Short White and Long White to Blue. No Red
or Brown. The String Course will be in a pleasant setting adjacent
to the family car park.
Starts. 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Entries. Schools wishing to enter the YHOA Champs
are asked if at all possible to pre-enter using the form at www.eastpennineoc.org.uk which
will be available from 18 May 2007. Entry on the day for all other
competitors.
Entry Fees. Seniors £4.50. Juniors £2.00.
Full time students with cards £2.00. No need to bring BOF membership
cards, since there is no surcharge for competitors who are not in BOF.
Dogs. No problem if on a lead at all times.
Safety. Safety is the responsibility of the competitor.
We are using the 'Buddy' system. Make sure you have a reliable buddy
who will raise the alarm if you seem very late finishing. Lone competitors
who cannot find a buddy should leave their car keys at registration. Courses
close at 2.30 pm.
