Langfield Regional Event
Controller’s comments
For his first planned event James has to be congratulated. He knows the area very well and he used his understanding in producing some very interesting and challenging courses with lots of change of direction and clusters of controls in the technically difficult areas. This could only have been done with several manned controls in the days before SI.
The technical difficulty and quality of the planning can be seen in the general times taken which were longer than I expected considering the previous results for the area. Perhaps if we had had bad weather the comments would have been somewhat different! There is no doubt that the area is very physical but this has to be expected if you enter a Pennine event.
To the EPOC committee I recommend the area is rested event wise for a
year or so and the time made to good use by a re-map with focus on the
rock features in particular.
I hope James is encouraged to put his skills to use in other EPOC areas
in the future..
Finally on behalf of you all thanks go to Brian and his team of EPOC helpers for their excellent organisation.
