Christmas Score Event, Sunday 23rd Dec 2007
Car Park: At SE edge of wood. GR 147 267. Between Brighouse and Bradford, signed from the A641. You can also approach from the A58 through Norwood Green. We are using the Bower Green warehouse carpark and the railway siding. If you are parked at the roadside, please do not put your wheels on the pavement. Competitors will need to take care crossing and walking along the road. It will not be marshalled.
Terrain: A mature, delightful woodland following a river valley, popular with walkers.
Map: . 1:7500 5m contours, completely new survey in 2007 by Rod Ryall.
Control descriptions: Written descriptions will be on the map only.
Toilets: There will be two toilets only, in the Bower Green Offices, clean shoes please! So please go before you arrive if possible.
Newcomers: Those new to Orienteering will be very welcome at this event. Just bring along a compass if you have one, and ask at enquiries for help.
Registration and Dibber hire: 9.15am to 10.30am. Bring your dibber if you have one to registration.
Pre-entry: If possible, please can you let Graham Booth, know you are coming by emailing him before Friday Dec 21st, 9pm. It does not matter at all if you decide not to come. You will simply pay on the day at a Pay Car if you come. He needs the following details: Dibber number if you have one. (BOF number if you have one). First name. Surname. Club. 60min or 45min course. Age Class. This will reduce queuing at registration. If you do not have your own dibber, you will be allocated one to be collected when you pay on the day.
Fees: Adult £4.50. Student £2. (student card req'd). Juniors £2. Dibber hire £1. Friends may accompany a competitor at no charge. Bring a running friend!
Courses: 60min Score Event, technically quite hard, intended for those who usually run Lt Green to Brown. Visit as many controls, as you can, in any order, in 60mins.
45min
Score Event, controls are White to Orange standard. Visit as many
controls as you can, in any order, in 45mins.
Massed Start:- 11am precisely,
10mins walk from Registration. Assemble in the
wood at 10.45am.
Scoring: For both courses -
1 point per control and 1 minute penalty for every minute late.
Should there be a tie on points then time to complete the course will be taken
into account i.e. fastest time will take precedence.
Finish:- 45min course at 11.45am. 60min course at 12noon. Remember to go to the caravan to download, immediately after you have finished, and join the queue.
Prizes! Small prizes will be awarded at the results caravan, hopefully around 12.30pm. These will be awarded to: best under 12 boy and girl on the 45min Score. Best under 18, boy and girl, Best Lady, Best Gent, M/W50+, M/W60+ on the 60min Score. Spot prizes for the best festively dressed!
Dogs: No problem if on a lead at all times.
Courses Close: 12noon. Controls will be retrieved from the North of the wood first.
Safety. Safety is the responsibility of the competitor. We are using the 'Buddy' system. Make sure you have a reliable buddy who will raise the alarm if you seem very late finishing. Lone competitors who cannot find a buddy should leave their car keys at the information and enquiries.
Cancellation: If the weather is dodgy for any reason check on EPOC's website, or ring the Organiser.
