Well done to Dave on his course planning which made creative use of the natural barriers for the longer courses and also gave the juniors suitable courses as well. Given the density of the heather in places we went for course lengths at the shorter end of the guidelines which did produce the right spread of finishing times. The size of the area leant itself perfectly to the middle distance format and it was nice to see the area used in this way.

The weather turned out well and even thawed notably overnight so that rocky areas we were worried out for the night event no longer were covered in ice by the morning. It would have been a different challenge if we'd had the snow fall of neighbouring areas.

Thank you to everyone involved in putting on the events and especially to the team involved in seamlessly moving all controls around on the Sunday morning.
