Many thanks to EPOC for organising the event on Xmas eve, enjoyed by all 4 of us. A first ( and probably Last) for me was my supersonic finish.Xmas must have had an effect on no. of peoplle filling in route gadget. I would also like to have seen winning routes, but found other peoples choices informative.

SUBJECT:   Observations on Route Gadget
Thankyou to all who have commented on aspects of the Storthes Hall event.

I am a little disappointed in the number of people who have tried out RouteGadget, only about 40. Particularly that none of the course top three competitors have done so. Are they wanting to keep their routes a secret? A pity.

I suspect that most people did in fact do the same routes. But it would help we novices to be able see the fastest runners/routes/techniques.

We will be using RG for our Marsden Moor event in March. Here the route choices should be very interesting...

SUBJECT:   Re Various
Thanks Alistair.  No - it's not getting even to the Route Gadget box coming up for me to click in!  I've got around the problem by using Internet Explorer (I normally use Firefox), so need to investigate why that's not working (Java and Javascript are both enabled).

What a brilliant facility though!

SUBJECT:   lost gaiter
Hi

Did anyone see or pick up a 'very muddy' black and white gaiter in the lower car park?  I seem to have one missing.

Many thanks for putting on such an enjoyable event on Christmas Eve.

SUBJECT:   RouteGadget hanging
Response to Andrew Kelly:

Are you sure that RouteGadget is really hanging?  The first thing that RouteGadget does is download a Java applet to your computer, and you may need to click in the RouteGadget box to activate the applet.  It's just possible that the Java applet is sitting there waiting to be activated.

SUBJECT:   Various
Thanks for a great event; a few brambles, but overall it was a joy to be in such a runnable wood. Quite a contrast to the flat and fast terrain at Walesby the week before: I lost most of my time (big time!) on the climbs, in spite of the runnability.

Anybody else had the same problem that I've had with Route Gadget?  Trying to access it from the EPOC site it keeps hanging, whilst loading, and I can only get out using Ctl-Alt-Del.  I found a getaround after Ogden, but can't remember how I did it!  Any advice (or alternative ways of accessing) welcomed!

SUBJECT:   Response
I have been monitoring the bulletin board response, and the rate at which competitors are adding their routes to RouteGadget.

I think we all will agree it was a brilliant event, well planned, great organisation, wonderful toilets, etc.

I can only think that everyone went straight between controls, went home, and then did not have time to check out the results due to family Christmas pressure?!

Is Routegadget up and runnin yet? A good event but there was a lot of back and forth and a lot of controls but enjoyed it anyway.

SUBJECT:   Route Gadget
I have been waiting for a chance to put my route on Route Gadget, and think I can claim to be the first this evening!

I think Storthes Hall does not really offer too many route choices, but RG shows graphically where you lose time with errors. Cannot wait to see which route the Green winner took!

SUBJECT:   Good stuff
Nice course (Blue), lovely area at this time of year - just print the map without contours and then I wouldn't be so exhausted...
Thanks to all for good event.
