SUBJECT:   Ranking points
Thank you to the organiser for a very varied event - I really enjoyed the course! A couple of months ago I ran at Nottingham and recall that there was a delay in submitting the results to British Orienteering for ranking purposes (which resulted in considerable confusion when they were eventually submitted) and wanted to check whether there was the intention to submit these results likewise? I've only been orienteering 2 years and for myself and other novices I realise that the ranking system is a good way of monitoring progress.
Thanks again for a very enjoyable day out.

As Organiser I'd just like to say I've really appreciated the constructive thread on this Forum. Sunday's event was both enjoyable for EPOC and a good lesson in putting on an Urban Event. Indeed, a number of club members have suggested ideas for future Urban events, which is great.

Thanks again for coming and to everyone who helped put on the event.

SUBJECT:   Yorkshire Urban League
Thanks for a very enjoyable event - I thought course 1 was fine with plenty of interest and route choice given the constraints of the area. I found the description for control 22 ambiguous as which courtyard it was in, but no-one else seemed to have problems so it must have just been me trying to over-analyse it.

Anyway, the Yorkshire Urban League table has now been updated and can be found via the EPOC or AIRE websites.

I don't think we won the duck race either but we did get the top prize on 'pluck a duck' :0)

and were also were treated to close up views of a Dipper whilst having lunch (out the back of the Co-op)

Very Enjoyable - what more could you ask for on a Sunday - out orienteering in the sunshine with a tour of Holmfirth hills and all! Well done EPOC. Perhaps more could have been made of the fact that there was a Town Gala going on at the same time,I felt we were rather kept to one side and not really part of the Town's festival.

SUBJECT:   Course 2
Enjoyed the run, the weather was almost ideal. The up and down was as expected, and we saw the ducks finish - I assume our ducks didn't win as we haven't had the call!

I also think having the event as part of the gala is a good move. I just wish it was more visible in the gala, and not hidden away in the far corner.

I went to Saltburn last week and I think the same mistake was made here in Holmfirth. That is to say that there was a strong tourist element. Chris who did course 1 said,' I don't think there is a bit of Holmfirth I don't know now'. , Holmfirth has some interesting features, and I think more could have been made of this without resorting to some very long legs with (effectively)little route choice.

But again as I commented at Saltburn, having got the first event out the way and proved it is possible and practical, and fun, I look forward to next year when perhaps more focus on the navigation, less on the sightseeing.

I did course 2 and really enjoyed it.  There was route choice on many legs and I fiddled with a couple of controls down narrow alleys as well as not reading my description list to realise that one control was under a bridge and not on it.  Great event!

Was looking forward to an 'urban' run around Holmfurth today. Expected the hills, and the undergrowth/nettles werent as bad as anticipated and could have worn my shorts but didnt risk it. Apart from overshooting number 1, the course didnt seem as technical as i expected / it could have been - with many control sites on line features/junctions, and the course in general offering little route choice and some lengthy road/path runs - which arent ideal for me; but it was enjoyable as it is to run on a 'new' area. Would have liked to have waited to see the ducks swimming, but seemed too long to wait... Pleased i competed, and the weather stayed kind and the breeze kept it not too hot. Thank you EPOC
