Google Maps

Streetmap

The car park entrance will be via Christ Church C of E School driveway which is 70mts further west than the Sports Centre entrance used for the CSC/T. It will be signposted with Orienteering signs.

Due to the many routes that can be used to reach Old Deighton Old School car park, we do not intend to sign routes from the main roads but the entrance to the Car Park will be signed and marshalled. Please use Sat Nav and check the Streetmap and/or Google maps link.

Follow the Marshals directions.

Toilets: Two portable toilets will be provided but please use the facilities at home before coming to the event. Sanitizer will be available outside the toilets.

Terrain: Bradley and Fixby are 4 small woods connected by paths and roads. The woods are generally deciduous and have many small paths especially in the east. Some parts especially in the centre have good contour features. There are significant areas of brambles but courses avoid the worst patches where possible. It may be quite muddy. Some courses for older Schools Competitors will have routes through built up areas on minor roads. Estate roads are generally quiet and only carry residential traffic but take care when crossing.

Runnability: Many paths are seasonable but generally visibility is good. Runnability is subject to brambles and young saplings. This wood has a dense footpath network and can be muddy.

Where possible, try to avoid trampling all the Bluebells.

Where transitioning between woods competitors must obey normal urban event rules and avoid all Olive Green areas such as private gardens.
Brown and Blue courses will cross a busy dual carriageway twice. There will be a 2-minute timed out crossing each way. This has been tested on a number of occasions and is adequate. These two courses have 2 part maps. Full leg cover is mandatory and whistles are advised.

COVID-19 The event will be organised in accordance with British Orienteering and Government Guidance in effect at the time of the event.

COVID Code of Conduct Guidance for competitors & volunteers:
You must not take part in any form of orienteering if you or any member of your household have had recent Covid-19 symptoms or have been asked to self-isolate.
Minimise contact with people from outside your household before, during and after your run.  Practice social distancing at all times, including before and after your run as well as when you are out on your course. Take particular care to keep the required distance from other people in the vicinity of the Start, at Download and when passing other competitors or members of the public on narrow paths, going through gates, etc.
Do not congregate in groups at the event or in the car park.
Sanitise your hands before and after your run.
Try not to touch the controls or SI unit. If you have to “dib” try not to touch the box.
There will be members of the public also using the wood, please observe social distancing and be polite.

We strongly encourage the following:

You should aim to arrive at the start for your start time with the minimum of standing around. If you do arrive early maintain a reasonable distance from the start area so you do not come into contact with others going to the start.

Please leave the Car Park promptly – Kirklees has one of the highest Covid-19 Indian variant rates in the country. Lingering in groups may cause local dog walkers to report us to Kirklees and infer that the event has been organised in an irresponsible manner.

You have to ‘dib’ the Start and Finish box.  Move away from the finish box as quickly as you can and go straight to download.

Safety: While we have carried out full risk assessments of the competition areas and put in place any mitigation of the risks we found, please be aware that you take part at your own risk. Whistles and cagoules may be compulsory depending on the weather. Please be aware of pedestrians, dog walkers/dogs/other competitors/mountain bikers.

All competitors must download as soon as possible at the end of their run whether they have completed the course or not.
